Strong One – The Leadership Program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Santa Cruz County, California. Our mission is to support transition-age foster youth as they move toward stable, independent adulthood through housing-based support, leadership development, and coordinated care.
Strong One was created to address the gap many young adults face as they exit foster care without consistent housing, guidance, or long-term support systems. Our work focuses on building stability, accountability, and opportunity during this critical transition period.
Organizational Background
From 2020–2022, Strong One facilitated community-based youth and young adult programming focused on leadership development, group mentorship, and community engagement. Activities included facilitated groups, seasonal community initiatives, and partnerships designed to strengthen connections between the Highway 1 corridor and Santa Cruz County.
This early work informed Strong One’s current focus by highlighting the critical need for stability, continuity, and structured support as young people transition into adulthood.
